The Origin of Crovax the Ascendant Evincar!!!!
Crovax was once a wealthy noble from Urborg, who became cursed when a caravan sold his family an amulet.
Crovax had not known that the amulet was actually a trap cage for his guardian angel, Selenia.
When Crovax broke the amulet, Selenia was freed but was under the sinister Volrath's spell.
When this happened, it practically drove Crovax insane, and ended up with the Weatherlight crew on their way to Rath to rescue Sisay who was captured by Volrath.
Once in Rath, Crovax sent out to find his beloved angel, but in doing so, he had to battle the cat warrior, Mirri.
After murdering Mirri, he found Selenia!!
For reasons, unknown to me, he slayed his angel and that was when his mind dropped and his angel shattered. After that happened, the Weatherlight disappeared within Portal Canyon. As the Weatherlight left Rath, the force of the planeshift of Weatherlight hit Crovax, he tumbled down the hill, and was engulfed in darkness.
Inside his head, he heard voices that were not his own.
They kept saying "Fly, Crovax, Fly to your destiny!"
Crovax felt stupid as he held his arms out and pretended to fly.
As he pretended, he felt like he was really flying.
The voices told him that he had a great destiny awaiting him and asked him if he would undertake his destiny or not.
He undertook his destiny and was modified by the voices.
Back on Rath, there was chaos everywhere, the overlords had sent an emissary from Phyrexia to proclaim a new evincar who in fact fell in love with the young Ertai.
Crovax, who was modified, had the power to influence flowstone and control rods but Belbe, the Phyrexian emissary, took a better liking to Ertai, and was going to proclaim Ertai as evincar, but Crovax was more devious than her, and tried to blackmail her with Ertai's life.
She agreed only if he let Ertai go free.
He agreed to the proposal and headed back to the coronation.
Back in the coronation, Crovax was about to be named Evincar of Rath until a shapeshifter appeared to challenge Crovax for the governorship!
It was Volrath, who had stepped out of Rath in pursuit of Weatherlight, Volrath and Crovax battled but Crovax won and was proclaimed Evincar of Rath.
Belbe had used the portal generator for Eladamri and his rebels to escape to Dominaria, instead of her and Ertai.
When Ertai heard of this, he became deeply depressed, and after many uses of Volrath's Laboratory, he had mutated into his present form today.
